You do get some really nice views of the Valley and of course stunning views looking directly down Las Vegas Boulevard. It does not offer 360° Views as the Thrill Rides occupy the back side of the deck so views out over Downtown are restricted. The Main Deck is the Outdoor Viewing Deck that offers wrap-around views of the City. This is situated part way up the tower on floors 108-109 some 855 Feet (260m) above the ground. The main feature of the SkyPod is the Observation Deck. This has had some big effects on the Observation Deck Experience, not all for the better.

The whole Hotel, Casino, Tower, and SkyPod have just undergone a full renovation (2020) and have a fresher and more modern look and feel.
It’s hard to think of Vegas without the Tower and it’s even more surprising that it was actually only opened in 1996. Still, people still use them interchangeably as we find ourselves doing in this article. The Hotel Chain has now actually run with this and the Hotel, Casino, and Tower are now all officially known as The STRAT. However, it has been known in Local slang as “the Strat” as a shorthand Abbreviation. Until 2019 the STRAT Hotel and Casino was known as the Stratosphere.

The SkyPod is a large rotating structure that houses several of the STRAT’s best attractions. Sitting atop this tower is the Stratosphere’s SkyPod. The tower rises 1149ft in the air and is situated away from most other buildings making the tower an incredibly recognizable part of the Las Vegas Skyline. In early 2008, privately-owned businesses took up residence on the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth levels of the Sunsphere.The Stratosphere tower is one of Las Vegas’s most iconic Landmarks, It’s the tallest structure in the Las Vegas Valley and one of the tallest observation towers in the world.

Later that year, the Sunsphere's Observation Deck reopened to the public free of charge and Mayor Haslam held his Inaugural Address, for his second term in office, in the Amphitheater. In 2007 he announced that they would be renovated without use of taxpayer's money. However, in 2005, Mayor Bill Haslam announced that the Sunsphere and Tennessee Amphitheater would be renovated for public use. The Convention Center was complete in 2001, but the Observation Deck remained closed following its completion.
The city briefly reopened the Observation Deck sometime in 1999, but reclosed it so that the Public Building Authority could use the space for offices to oversee the construction of the Knoxville Convention Center. The Sunsphere and the Tennessee Amphitheater are the only structures that remain from the 1982 World's Fair. The Sunsphere closed to the public with the Fair's end and remained vacant or underutilized for most of its post-fair life. It was also home to a full service restaurant and the Observation Deck, which used to cost $2.00 for the elevator ride up to visit. The Sunsphere was constructed for the 1982 World's Fair and during that time, it served as the symbol to the Fair.
